product shot purposal

The Brand The brand I have created to use for  my product is called “Glossier” this is a skincare brand I have decided to use because I personally really enjoy skincare and I also have quite a few products already that I would like to play around with shooting as many of the products I own have got interesting textures and colours that I would like to work with for my product shot. How I plan to edit my product shot is through adobe photoshop. Who is the client, or company you are representing and target audience? The company I am representing is ‘Glossier’,   I aim for my target audience or client to be between the age of 16 to 25. The reason of a younger target audience is because I want my brand to represent youth and encourage younger adults in to taking care of their skin.   The Product The product I have chosen to pick for my product shot is a moisturiser bottle. The reason I have chose this product is because the texture and colour of the tube...

Product Shot Research

Image
Product Advertising   This is the first product advertising that caught my attention when researching products, why? because of the simplistity. I really like how because this product was shot on a blackround my eye and attention is imeditly drawn to the subject or in this case bar. The image is taken and edited really well as you can see everybit of deatail. I really like this style and is deffinitly the style i tend to follow for my final project.  This second image really caught my eye initally because of the bold red colour. I then as i looked closer spotted the brilliant design fo which the bottle is cut like a tomatoe to form the bottle. This is brillant use of advertisement. Its clever and effective and i really like there use of editing again this is somthing i will keep in mind for my product.   This immeditly stood out to me firstly because i love cats, However this product advertisment is humerous and extremly clever it caught my attentio...

Home made Light box set up - Product Photography

Image
I set up my box and coverd all the inside with white papper in order to get a plain white backround i then picked my subject to picture i picked this pinappple as there was lots of texture i could capture shadow with this is it pictured with one light on.                                                                                               Here is the image pictured with two lights   I then decided to capture this ornimant as it is a smooth texture and could capture some good shadows. this is an image of how i created my set up, i used a brown box and cut squares out either side of the box and i used baking papper as its this and i set up two torches either side of the box to mimic lights.

Lighting Ratios

Image
Today in class we learned how to set up the lighting positions in order to get a pure white background  this took some trial and error to adjust the light in order to get a a 8:18 stop ratio which achieves a pure white background.      This is the final two images I finished with how I achieved the was by using a a light meter and auto flash and changed the numbers on each light to get the correct figure. The for this image the front right light was set at 2.6 in order to get the light meter to 11, the front left light was set to 2.3in order together the light meter at 5.6 and lastly the back light was set at 0.5 in order to get 16.

Portrait Lighting

Image
Broad Portrait Lighting   This is an example of portrait lighting taken in the style 'Broad'. How achieved this was by angling the light to the side of the person being pictured and angled the chair.  Split Portrait Lighting    This is an example of Split how I took this was by making sure the person being photographed faced perfectly straight and angled the light straight at the side of their face to capture the split shadow. Butterfly Portrait Lighting    This is an example of butterfly this is where there is no shadows on the face and how you can tell this is in the style butterfly is by looking at the nose. How I achieved this was by facing the chair and person photographed straight and angled the light directly in front of there face also. Rembrandt Portrait Lighting    This is an example of Rembrandt this is when an almost triangle is shadowed on the person or subjects face. How ...

External Flash

Image
This image was taken while I was learning how to photograph with an external flash. How I got this effect was by adding a coloured lens over the external flash. I choose an orange lens which is how I captured the orange Hugh. I really liked this style of photography especially because it looks like a sunset or sun beaming on Kevins face.    This image was taken using the same orange lens and external flash. I really like this image because I was able to bounce the flash from a white bored to get the white effect but also have the orange lens and I managed to almost get a half and half effect which I think is really cool.    This is the final image I took using external flash with the orange lens. I really like this image as I was able to capture the shadows and light and darkness on his face I think this effect of photography is really cool.
